The Chinlink Office, located in Xi'an, China, is a testament to Dang Ming's innovative approach to design. The office spans from the 18th to the 20th floor, with the boardroom area extending from the 23rd to the 25th floor. The design is simple yet significant, playful yet professional. The use of geometric figures composed of dots, lines, and planes transform into varying beautiful patterns, providing a visually appealing workspace.
Dang Ming's design is not just about aesthetics; it also focuses on functionality. Different styles of carpets are used to highlight and distinguish functional areas, providing the possibility of adding more elements. In the boardroom area, geometric blocks are used to divide the spatial layout and guide the paths, ensuring a smooth flow of movement within the space.
The project, which started in July 2018 and was completed in September 2019, faced several design challenges. The floor height was small, and the ceiling was closely paved with pipes and tubes. To overcome this, the designers selected a comprehensive pipe arrangement. Additionally, wall lamps were used to provide necessary light in the corridors where the floor height was too small to install lighting fixtures on the ceiling.
The Chinlink Office is a perfect example of how design can transform a workspace. The use of colors and graphics within a limited space scale creates progressive nodes, depicting a highly textured workspace. Moreover, it breaks the traditional image of an office space, making it more vibrant and dynamic.
In conclusion, Dang Ming's design for the Chinlink Office is a remarkable blend of function, aesthetics, and innovation. It's a design that not only meets the needs of a modern workplace but also adds a touch of style and sophistication. It's no wonder that this design was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, a testament to Dang Ming's prodigious talent and wisdom in design.
